30 Jul Olympics empty seat conundrum – what’s going on?
After glowing with pride during the opening ceremony, which reminded me of just how how creative we are in this country, my heart personally sank at what seems to be an almighty cock-up on seat allocation.
If you think of the complexity of putting together the opening ceremony and then compare it with the simple task of putting ‘bums on seats’ when you have an over-capacity audience clambering for tickets, it is hard to believe how we have managed to get this wrong.
We fill football stadiums and arenas week in, week out, but then fall short when we are hosting the biggest event in the world. Apparently the latest is that we’re drafting in soldiers and students to fill the empty seats.
Oh to be British!
