25 Jul adverset products reach the Falkland Islands
Products included pull-up banners, window stickers and leaflets, all of which will arrive in Port Stanley within the next 5 days. This means that this is the farthest an adverset product has ever travelled!
‘We are very proud to be involved in supporting our Armed Forces in this way. It’s thrilling to know that some of our products will be viewed in a country so far away and yet familiar to all of us. I have friends & family who were involved in the combat during the Falklands war, so this feels quite special for me’, said John Easby, managing director.
The launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the islands, which is being commemorated this year with a number of special events.
The scheme, which encourages businesses and individuals to give a warm welcome to forces personnel visiting their town, started in Scarborough four years ago and is also supported by Qdos Entertainment and HQ Theatres.
The man behind the initiative is retired Territorial Army major John Senior, who raised thousands of pounds for charity after serving in Afghanistan.
He said: “I feel delighted and privileged that Heroes Welcome is now up and running in the Falklands.
“Everything that will be used to promote the scheme – pop-ups, stickers, posters and leaflets – has all been sent over from Scarborough.
“The Falklands have very much wanted to get on board with it.”
Mr Senior, who runs the Golden Grid restaurant in Sandside, said he is delighted that the islands have taken on the scheme in what will be a very important year.
He added: “It will form part of the hosting package for visitors and other VIPs visiting the islands.
