22 Jul designer curse/benefit?
As graphic designers we tend to look at everything through a critical eye. The benefit to this is that we look at the small details, we appreciate things that might pass most people by and silly little things sometimes fill us with joy (the uppercase Q in the Avenir font never fails to bring a smile to my face) the flip side to this of course is that we can be extremely difficult to please (i’m saying ‘we’ of course it could just be me…) but quite simply… we know what we like. For instance, buying a greeting card is no small matter, it can sometimes turn into a seemingly never ending hunt, in fact bulk buying of the good ones is often a good idea. (again… this could just be me). So as the end of the school year drew near and no decent teacher card was to be found (for under £4… I am from Yorkshire after all) I turned on the mac and made my own… I don’t know why I didn’t think of doing it before!
